It’s purple day! So here’s my blog post about my epilepsy!
E is for epilepsy – a brain disorder in which clusters of nerve cells, or neurons, in the brain sometimes signal abnormally. Basically, the brain short circuits itself. More than 2 million people in the United States have experienced an unprovoked seizure or have been diagnosed with epilepsy.
I choose this because I have had epilepsy since the fifth grade and while it is a disorder, I see this as my biggest strength. I use my epilepsy to teach people what to do in the event that they come upon someone having a seizure. I have never seen my epilepsy as a weakness; I see it as my greatest strength because while I will always have epilepsy; mine is controlled with medication. I love the fact there are many well known athletes and actors who are coming forward with their own story of epilepsy. Epilepsy has no barriers. My hope…
